How much will my service cost?
That's a difficult question to answer.
Each make, model etc use different filters which all vary in prices.
Some vehicles are well maintained, therefor, needing less during a service. Those that aren't regularly maintained, may need more which costs more.
If it's a log book service, we complete the maintenance/replacements stated in the service book.
Hopefully that answer's that question.
Can I wait while my car is booked in?
Generally, no.
We book in several cars per day and depending on the service/repair, will depend on the time taken to perform that task or time to diagnose the issue then repair.
It's always best to organize a drop off/pick up prior to the day.
How long will it take to diagnose my cars issue?
To put it as nicely as possible, how long is a piece of string?
If it's a noise you can hear whilst driving, breaking, turning etc and it's mechanical, the diagnosing time is relatively quick.
If your Dash is lit up like a christmas tree & your cars computer isn't talking to us through a scan tool, it could be quite a long time to diagnose.
We not only think about cars at work. If there is an issue that's not an obvious one, that then comes home with us. We lose sleep thinking about everything we have been over and it affects our private life also but it's what we love, it's what we do.
Why do mechanics 'charge so much'?
This is a question that seems to upset business owners in this industry & rightfully so.
If you take into account the 4 year apprenticeship to become a mechanic plus the extra years & costs it takes to gain qualifications; eg, Auto Electrician, A/C specialist etc as well as the constant membership costs involved, you would be suprised how much it costs a business to employ someone not only qualified but experienced. That technician is entitled to be paid what they're worth.
That business then also has to cover that technicians wage but factory rentals and upkeep, equipment & equipment maintenance, insurances, public liabilty, Electricity etc etc, the list goes on.
